Programmer (PLC) / Electrical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

The electrical engineer/programmer will be responsible for designing and building the electrical systems and controls that drive custom built machinery and equipment to solve a customer’s problems. The role requires the ability to conceptualize how a machine will function, commit the concept to a drawing, procure and source the components, build a working model, test the machine and finally commission, start-up and debug at customer’s facility

Position requires thorough knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques, as well as Auto Cad and preferably Solid Works. Engineer will be responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, products, procedures and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, manuals, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, and normally accepted engineering standards.

 

EDUCATION: 

Required: Non-degreed candidates must have equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Electrical Controls Engineering or the equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 5 + years of verifiable work experience. Preferred: Machine building, automation, integration, or other automation intensive industry sector.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification

Required: Must be knowledgeable of PLC’s including Allen Bradley, Control Logix, Compact Logix, and Micro Logix, and be able to program them utilizing Rockwell RS Logix 500 and 5000. Experience with Allen Bradley and Panel View Plus HMI’s and possess the skill to program them using Factory Talk Studio. Familiarity with Field Bus Systems using web based configuration software. Experience applying and programing Robots a real plus. Must be competent with the workings and application of Ethernet I/P addressing systems and switching, VFDS, industrial safety controls, panel layouts and designs, and the ability to draw schematics using auto cad.

 

Preferred: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking, committed team player, with strong leadership and performance management skills capable of stepping up to assure that projects are completed. Must possess the ability to multi-task and bring multiple projects to completion on time and on budget.
